For this assignment I decided to take pictures of the different kinds of parking in South Side.

Parking garage at South Side Works.

Giant Eagle parking lot.

Street parking on 22nd.

Meter parking on Carson Street.

  2. I deleted my previous post because it had a typo but I didn't know that it would still show up.

I think that the idea of taking pictures of all of the different kinds of parking in South Side was a really interesting concept. The first photo is my favorite because I like the symmetry between the arrows on the floor and the lights on the garage ceiling; this creates nice lines. The second photo is kind of dark though, and a lot of the background gets lost. It might have helped to take the photo a few hours earlier to try to lighten it with photoshop. In the last photo it's nice how you cropped the photo with one meter very close to the viewer because this created a really great sense of depth!

  3. First picture is awesome. I love lines and direction in photography that really causes movement across the work. The picture really begs you to follow under the lights and take the arrows into another scenario. The stop sign and bar down is kinda cool too in that the arrows, wall, lights, etc begs forward motion, but without out a certain payout that next point is only a dream. From a far back shot it seems like a cautious thought to follow and try to pass or to not even try and give up before you start. Definitely like this picture. Stop sign came out reflective by nature, but with PS and what we learned today maybe magnetic lasso it and mess wit it. Cool picture none the less, nice...

  4. All four picture have interesting content. Who would've thought that cars would be fun to photograph? So, very cool. For the first one, I enjoyed your use of space. It was almost as if it created this optical illusion of the background. It kept getting further and further away. I also liked how you incorporated night and day. Great job :) Ps. I love the South Side!

  5. I really like the idea you are going for with the parking. I had the exact same idea with taking pictures on south side with parking. The pictures really tell what its like to find a parking spot in pittsburgh. My favorite photo is the parking garage one though because it is very inviting with the symmetry.
